Rev. Gary Ortiz and Rev. Joseph Kamphuis

Take On Faith – November 21, 2020

Rev. Gary Ortiz and Rev. Joseph Kamphuis both serve as military chaplains in the New Mexico Air National Guard. During this lively conversation, Chaplains Lt. Col. Ortiz and Maj. Kamphuis discuss the intricacies of military chaplaincy. As clergy and military men, both of them describe their roles and responsibilities as military chaplains and how that differs from other institutional chaplains.

As a result of their deployments, they share stories from thier lives during military deployments and how Air Force personnel deal with separation from their families. In a unique way, the chaplains offer clarity and insight when they discuss their unique pastoral authority. You’ll find it interesting to learn how chaplains fit into the military as officers and clergy.

Both chaplains are members of the 150th Special Operations Wing at Kirtland AFB, NM.
